Bowwood Western Cape Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 2005 82 Points


Clear, bright, mahogany / cherry red with brown rim, medium plus concentration, medium plus viscosity, no gas or sediment.

Clean, medium plus intensity, blackcurrant, cassis, blueberries, hints of prune, complex earthy note with spicy oak character, lending a smoky, tobacco / cigar note, stony mineral evident, complex and layered.

Dry, medium plus acidity, medium alcohol (13.5 ABV), dark red fruits follows through, sour cherry note, black olives, slight herbaceousness, medium length, medium complexity, some bitterness on aftertaste distract.

Co-fermented blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot, mostly Paarl source, for now until 2016.
