Hermit on the Hill The Infidel Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc 2012 92 Points
First impression this Sauvignon was an instant reminder of the exceptional Quion Rock The Nicobar 2009, one of South Africa finest release ever, yet The Infidel have it's own personality of top of that.
A natural ferment Sauvignon sourced from Simonsberg ward of Stellenbosch, more Loire than New World, showing pale bright straw with yellow green reflections.
Clean, moderate intensity with no green herbaceous edge or pyrazine, ripe, tropical, stone fruits, granadilla, hints of crushed blackcurrant leafs, excellent purity of fruit, brush of pebbly minerals.
Dry with dash residual sugar, broad ripe textured with moderate acidity, fresh and crunchy, juicy, spicy white pepper, hints of honeyed nutty mid palate, quite full bodied with moderate plus alcohol of 13.5% abv, long lenght, perfect now yet will gain further complexity in bottle over the next 5 years, up to 2019+.Must try.
