KWV Western Cape Cape Vintage LBV 2000 89 Points

Clear, garnet hue with brown rim, some sediment, showing development.

Clean, moderate plus intensity, raising, molasses, dried figs, brush of herbal character, tamarind, subtle spicy oak note, tobacco ash, layered complexity

Sweet with a warming spirity texture, full bodied with a moderate plus alcohol of 17.5% abv, relatively low for a fortified wine, as the average bottling are around 19.5% abv, rich Christmas fruitcake note, juicy and still lots of fruit, much "younger" on palate texture than nose may suggest, low plus tannins, could do with a little more grip, rich style.

Perfect as an aperitifs or at the end of a meal with dark chocolate and roasted nuts or with blue vein cheese.
