Simonsig releaseslively Sunbird Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Aptly named after the vivid malachite Sunbird that is drawn to the Cape’s indigenous fynbos, the Simonsig Sunbird Sauvignon Blanc 2013 is a delicious dry white radiating with fresh intensity and exceptional layers of fruit.

“The vineyard and terroir are crucial to the quality of Sauvignon blanc. Our painstaking attention to site and clonal selection as well as meticulous scientific canopy management rewarded us with exceptional quality, flavour packed grapes that shaped this wine,” says Hannes Meyer, winemaker of Simonsig white wines.

A combination of grapes from Simonsig’s own vineyards in Stellenbosch (51%) as well as from vineyards in Darling (49%), Simonsig Sunbird Sauvignon Blanc 2013 radiates the signature tropical flavours of gooseberries and a touch of kiwi fruit and freshly cut grass attributed to theseareas.

Chef Lucas Carstens, head chef at Simonsig Estate’s ever popular Cuvée Restaurant, recommends serving this wine with a tian of prawns dressed in Thai coconut sauce. The refreshing acidity of the Sunbird Sauvignon Blanc cuts right through the rich flavours of this dish, making it a superb combination.

Simonsig Sunbird Sauvignon Blanc 2013 sells for R65.00 at the cellar door, and is available at wine shops country wide. For more information or wine orders contact Simonsig Estate at Tel: (+27)21 8884915 or visit www.simonsig.co.za.
