Esona Single Vineyard Robertson Chardonnay 2010 92 Points
This wine is another confirmation that Robertson may possibly be one of the very best district in South Africa, from quality concious producers, to grow great Chardonnay comparable to the world's best, in a multitude of style, here look no further if seeking a juicy, concentrated, textured and wooded white wine with ample fruit to support, yes the oak might still be prominent, after 3 years, but unobtrusive.
Pale straw with a bright yellow green reflections, clean with seamless purity of fruit, lots of personality with ripe citrus, tangerine, tropical note and stony fruits, orange blossoms, mineral still evident for such a ripe Chardonnay with subtle wood spices lending extra layers of complexity.
Dry with dash residual sugars, round and creamy, yet with ample acidity, citric freshness, bold style, light toast texture, full bodied with very high alcohol of 14.5% abv, smartly integrated, still embryonic, lots of stamina, great now but even better by 2015+ until 2019+.
