Seven Springs Vineyards Overberg Unoaked Chardonnay 2011 89+ Points
This is the maiden unoaked Chardonnay vintage of up and coming Seven Springs Vineyard, up the road from Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge on the R 320, in the Overberg, it might be from very young vines, yet shows all the potential to be one of the very best South African Chardonnay made in a "Chablis" style, showing a bright pale straw with yellow green reflections.
Clean with moderate intensity, a sense of confidence with delicate note of citrus, pineapple and passion, brush of tropical note and nutty complexity with mineral layers, precise purity.
Dry with possibly a dash of residual sugar as it is juicy and concentrated, highlighting the citrus fruit profile, high acidity, fresh and lively with a textured honeyed mid palate, moderate alcohol of 13% abv, table friendly, saline farewell, drinking very well now yet have stamina until 2018.
Perfect on it's own or will highlights grilled delicate fish with beurre blanc sauce and chives.
