Nederburg Taste Theatre at Gugulethu Wine Festival
The dextrous duo who created such a spark last year in explaining to festival goers why some wine and food pairings seem heaven-matched, will bring their fun, entertaining and common- sense reasoning to this year's festival with a line-up of wines and elemental food flavours to demonstrate exactly what they mean.
Their joint appearance comes just a few weeks before the June 11 start to the second season of MasterChef South Africa that once again stars Goffe-Wood in a judging role, together with his colleagues Benny Masekwameng and Andrew Atkinson.
For the second year, Nederburg will be the sole official wine sponsor of the popular series.
Guests, accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis in the Taste Theatre within the festival venue, will be encouraged to interact with the presenters, ask questions, express their opinions and share their own experiences of wine and food pairing favourites and fiascos.
The presentations will be staged at 17:30, 18:30 and 19:30 on the Friday, and at 16:30, 18:00 and 19:30 on the Saturday.
An exciting collection of Nederburg wines will also be available for tasting at an exhibition stand on the show, including the acclaimed Ingenuity blends, as well as the new generation, super-smooth drinking 56HUNDRED wines. Loyalists will have a chance to savour some nostalgia with Baronne, one of South Africa's top-selling reds that celebrates its 40th birthday this year.
Last year, the coveted Diners Club of the Year Award went to Nederburg. The winery was also judged the most successful South African winery at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London.
The third annual TOPS Gugulethu Wine Festival will take place on Friday, May 24, and Saturday, May 25 on the rooftop of the Gugulethu Square Mall. Tickets, at R90 a head, can be booked by going to www.gugulethuwinefestival.co.za
