A thrilling Chardonnay showing particularly prominent pear fruit with
lovely hints of lime and fresh-baked bread. 2012 produced generous wines with
vibrant bright natural acidity and length, with Hamilton Russell Vineyards characteristic dry
minerality balancing the palate texture beautifully.
The 2012, follows two particularly celebrated vintages (the 2010 and 2011) which
earned 2 trophies, a high Wine Spectator Top 100 placement and a Platter 5 star
rating. These wines helped earn Hamilton Russell Vineyards Winery of the
Year and White Wine of the Year at the SAWI Awards, which look at 3 years of performance over 44 competitions and
ratings, local and international. 2012 is every bit as
good and expect some to like it even more!
The
2012 was handled in the same way as previous vintages Chardonnays - part proprietary
endemic yeast fermentation, no sterile filtration for the majority of the wine
which completes malolactic fermentation - but it benefits from a now
significant 3% Amphora fermented and aged component. There is a really lovely
freshness on the wine.
