Thread Lightly Western Cape Sauvignon Blanc by Backsberg 2012 80 Points
Discovered on board a British Airways flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town, packaged in a PET bottle, though it might not have the depth and complexity of their maiden vintage, it is nevertheless a well made example more towards a riper and tropical style.
Pale straw with yellow reflections.
Clean, expressive Sauvignon character, sweet fruited, tad sweaty in profile, peppery, spicy radish, perfectly ripe, textbook.
Dry with dash residual sugar, juicy, broad texture, green lime, fresh with moderate plus acidity, charming, drink now.
