Bouchard Finlayson has introduced a series of Tutored
Wine Tastings that will be held in both Cape Town and Johannesburg throughout
2013. The events are open to the public, and are designed to introduce a new
audience to Bouchard Finlayson wines in central locations and informal settings.
The first tasting will take place in Cape Town on Tuesday 26
February at 18:00 (until 19:30).Bouchard Finlayson's interesting blends:
Hannibal and Blanc de Mer will be sampled alongside some delectable
nibbles at Dear Me Restaurant in Longmarket
Street. (Catering cost:
R100) Hosted by oenologist Jessica Saurwein, wine enthusiasts will explore the
two blends and their ageing credentials, tasting up to 10 wines.
On 12 March at 18:30 Jessica Saurwein will host the first
Johannesburg tutored tasting for the year, to be held at Croft & Co Deli in
Parkview, where she will present Vintage Sauvignon blanc and
Chardonnay. (Catering cost R150)
Pinot pioneer, Peter Finlayson, winemaker at the Hemel-en-Aarde
Valley winery says the sessions are designed to be interesting and fun, without
any elitist notions: ‘I believe wine should be shared and that no barrier
should cause people to shy away from this ‘life elixir’. We would therefore
like to present a series of tutored tastings that are informative, but most
importantly, relaxed and accessible to people who are interested in knowing
more about our wines.’ The tastings are limited to 20 guests, which, says
Finlayson, ‘allows for knowledge to be shared in an intimate environment whilst
savouring a delicious glass of wine’.
Later in the year there will be a tutored tasting of Sauvignon
blanc and Chardonnay in Cape Town on 17 April; followed by Hannibal
and Pinor noir on 5 June in Johannesburg; which will be repeated in
Cape Town on 11 June. More details to follow.
