Ernie Els Western Cape Big Easy 2009 91 Points

A captivating and ripe red blends of 52% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Mourvedre, 9% Grenache Noir and 3% Viognier so subtly integrated, though floral yet gives absolutely no clue it is part of the blend.
Ruby red with garnet hue with slight brown reflections towards the rim.

Clean, high intensity, ripe dark red fruits, mulberry, cassis, blackcurrant, earthy core, spicy, tea leaf note, generous oaking yet not overpowering.

Dry with dash residual sugar, juicy, bright fruit concentration, very good purity, with moderate plus acidity, fresh and elegant with spicy texture, ripe medium tannin, just firm, savory, very well made wine, only concerned is the very high alcohol of 14.5% abv does not only make it unfriendly at table, but a challenge to be paired with food as well as a very high probability of customer drinking less of it! Now until 2019.
