Deetlefs Estate Breedekloof Pinotage 2010 88+ Points

Deetlefs Estate have quietly and consistently produce some of South Africa’s best pinotage, either this estate offerings or the oak matured version, which tend to be a little showier and fuller in style, however for some reason, very little have been said/mention about in recent years, it is by far one of the best kept secret and Breedekloof district finest Pinotage, a must try by all means.

Clear, bright, ruby red with purple rim.

Clean, high intensity, lifted aromatics with peppery and spicy ripe plums, mulberry, slight jammy note, but not raisin, earthy, dark chocolate,  brush of toasty/nutty oak, tapenade/black olives, very well defined aromatics for a Pinotage.

Dry with dash residual sugar, plush ripe tannins, plums cooked in caramel, medium plus acidity, fresh vibrant and savory with crisp texture, fine extractions and excellent purity of fruit, the high alcohol (14% abv) is noticeable, but integrated, savory, medium plus length, now until 2018+.
