Robertson Winery Western Cape Shiraz 2011 83 Points

Packaged in a 2 litres "Bag in Box", this wine will change many perceptions of the quality that are being "bag" today, either in a 2 or 3 or 5 litres.

Long gone of the days of just whatever may have been left or of inferior quality in the cellar being "bag", there is a serious drive for quality that should be applauded, yes there is still work to be done in some other major brands competing for sales in this category.

One thing is for sure after tasting the whole range of Robertson Winery Bag in Box recently, they deliver a honest and very well priced "Bag in Box", that are varietally correct, fresh, juicy delicate fruit with moderate to moderate plus alcohol, no doubt these wines will meet the expectation for an everyday glass of wine, not only at home but a serious candidate to consider for wines by the glass offerings in bistro, pubs, bars, restaurants, especially at a time where restaurant patrons are price concious and trading down on their wine expense!

This will deliver a generous glass of wine at less than R30.

Now back to the Robertson Winery Shiraz 2011, the color is vibrant ruby red with garnet reflections towards the rim.

Clean, moderate intensity, varietally correct with good definition of Shiraz fruits, plums, spicy, peppery, herbal but not green, delicate earthy note.

Dry, dash of sugar, juicy, savory with crisp acidity, elegant and spicy structure with moderate plus alcohol of 13.5% abv, table friendly, well made.
