Purple by Chateau Lagrezette The Original Malbec 87 Points

This very well made example shows how much the French have change their winemaking style to compete with New World Malbec producers, Chateau Lagrette a reputable producer in Cahors, the birthplace of Malbec, a regions known as producing the “Vin Noir” of Cahors, here offer a modern ripe interpretation of the variety with moderate plus alcohol of 13.5% abv, definitely New World in style with lifted dark red fruit, blackcurrant, cassis character dominated by toffee, charry notes, elegant with spicy and peppery farewell, massage tannins, hard to pin point this as a Cahors in a blind tasting, fun offerings, good introduction to French Malbec.
