Bouchard Finlayson‘s popular Tutored Wine Tastings series is back
for 2015, with events this year also taking place in Stellenbosch and on the
Garden Route, as well as in Cape Town and at the Hemel-en-Aarde winery itself.
These informal, relaxed tastings are open to the public and will be held in
small groups of no more than 20 guests. Absolutely everyone is welcome, from
grape rookies to wine pros. Tastings will be hosted by esteemed winemaker and South Africa’s ‘Pinot Pioneer’, Peter
Finlayson, who looks forward to taking guests on an inspiring wine journey of
old and new vintages. The small events allow for a highly personalised
experience, says Finlayson, inviting guests to find out more about the
award-winning wines, with a handful of international vintages thrown into the
mix, and paired with a selection of mouth-watering canapés.
The first Tutored Tasting
of the year will take place at Hildebrand
Ristorante at the V&A Waterfront in Cape
Town on Tuesday 14 April,
with guests being able to try 12 wines during the course of the evening. The
first flight will comprise three vintages from Bouchard Finlayson’s unique
white wine blend – Blanc de Mer, followed by six vintages of Galpin Peak and
Tête de Cuvée Pinot Noir, and ending in a flight of the flagship Missionvale
Chardonnay.
Stellenbosch-based wine fans will be
able to enjoy a Tutored Tasting on Wednesday 17 June, followed by a
tasting in Bouchard
Finlayson’s wine cellar on Tuesday 23 June. The tasting series
then moves to the Garden Route (date tbc), before returning to Cape Town for a final tasting on Wednesday 4 November.
Editor’s Notes:
Please note that venues for
June, August and November are still to be confirmed, with all Tutored Tastings
taking place in centrally located restaurants. The tastings start at 18:00 and run until approximately 19:30.
Bookings are essential and
can be made on info@bouchardfinlayson.co. za or Tel 028 312 3515.
The cost is R250 per person, which includes the wine tasting and a selection of
canapés. Wine tasters are welcome to book dinner in the relevant venue
following the tasting, for their own account.
