invited six of South Africa’s top wineries to join its renowned Food & Wine
Pairing dinners this
winter. Taking place in Azure
Restaurant on the last Friday of every
month, these evenings are co-hosted by the winemakers and promise to be gourmet
heaven for food and wine connoisseurs. Twelve Apostles Executive Chef Christo
Pretorius - one of the rising stars of Cape Town’s culinary scene, will create
a special four-course dinner for each event, perfectly paired with the finest
vintages of each wine farm. Pretorius is quickly gaining a reputation for his
innovative contemporary South African dishes, which secured Azure a spot on the prestigious American Express
Platinum Fine Dining Awards for the last two years running. Diners may look
forward to indulgent evenings in a warm, welcoming fireside setting, complete
with outstanding service, and food and wine combinations that are sure to
delight the palate.

Friday 24 April: Stellenzicht Wine Estate
Situated
on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, Stellenzicht lies in a prime
wine-growing area known locally as the Golden Triangle, thanks to its
exceptional terroir. The estate’s ‘Golden Triangle Range’ consists of vintages
of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinotage and Sauvignon Blanc.
Friday 29 May: Morgenster Wine & Olive Estate
Based
in Somerset West and dating back to 1711, Morgenster produces internationally
acclaimed Bordeaux-style wines and award-winning extra virgin olive oil of
exceptional quality, with four Bordeaux cultivars grown on the Estate: Cabernet
Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Friday 26 June: Simonsig Estate
Named
after the majestic views of the Simonsberg Mountain, Simonsig is a private
family-owned winery near Stellenbosch, where current Cellar Master Johan Malan
continues the family’s pioneering spirit with his own impressive lineage of
award-winning wines.
Friday 31 July: The Drift Wines
The
Drift Farm, situated near Stanford in the heart of the Overberg, specialises in
three wines – a single vineyard Rosé, a single vineyard Pinot Noir, and a
blended red wine from various varieties and vineyard sites on the farm.
Friday 28 August: Rudera Wines
A
well-established wine producer in the Jonkershoek Valley, surrounded by the
picturesque Hottentots Mountain range, Rudera winery specialises in Chenin
Blanc, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Friday 25 September: Shannon Vineyards & Wines
Elgin
Valley’s Shannon Vineyards & Wines benefits from high altitude cool
temperatures, abundant rainfall throughout the year and the prevailing cold
‘Black South-Easter’ summer wind. Highlights include its Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot
Noir and Mount Bullet 100% Merlot.
