Bid on a Cape Winemakers Guild VIP experience at the charitable AfrAsia Bank Cape Wine Auction

Bid on a Cape Winemakers Guild VIP experience at the charitable AfrAsia Bank Cape Wine Auction
Saturday, 15 March 2014

A once in a lifetime VIP experience at prestigious 2014 Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction events, including an otherwise unattainable collection of 44 auction wines, will go under the hammer in aid of the Guild’s Protégé Programme, at the inaugural AfrAsia Bank Cape Wine Auction in March.

The annual Auction, to be held at Delaire Graff Estate in Stellenbosch on Saturday, 15 March 2014, is a charitable initiative that unites the wine industry in raising significant funds for education in the wine lands at a grand showcase for South African wine.

A true wine lover’s dream, the Guild’s auction lot is one of numerous singular wine experiences not generally available to the public, to go under the hammer in aid of charity. The proceeds of the Guild’s lot will go towards their Protégé Programme, a mentorship scheme dedicated to bringing about transformation in the wine industry by nurturing talented graduates to become winemakers of excellence. All the funds raised at the Auction will support organisations involved in education in the wine lands from infant development and nutrition to the promotion of tertiary education and leadership programmes.

The Cape Winemakers Guild lot comprises a 3-night stay for two at Spier to attend the Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction on Saturday, 4 October 2014 and related events as VIP guests. The events include a pre-auction dinner; the Guild’s boules and golf day; lunch at Paul Cluver with the Guild’s new Chairman, Andries Burger; and the final pre-auction tasting. The wine component is a rare collection representing wines from all the members of the Guild who have participated in the past three Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auctions. Two British Airways business class flights are included if the winning bid comes from outside the Western Cape.

Ten members of the Guild including Abrie Beeslaar, Andries Burger, Marc Kent, Rianie Strydom, Gary Jordan, David Finlayson, Dewaldt Heyns, Boela Gerber, Andrea Mullineux and Kevin Arnold, are involved in the Auction with six members also participating in the Cape Wine Auction Barrel Tasting and Auction Preview on Waterford Estate on Friday, 14 March 2014. Bidders will be given an opportunity to taste the wines and make a bid on an entire barrel.
