Wine Weekends.
Honouring exceptionally high
culinary standards as a member of Relais & Châteaux, Bushmans Kloof is
renowned for its creative, flavoursome cuisine. Executive Chef Floris Smith is
known to only use the freshest, finest quality ingredients for his inspired
menus, with culinary creations thatcapture the natural flavours and essence of the Cape
Floral Kingdom and the surrounding landscape. Complementing the award-winning cuisine is an acclaimed wine
cellar rated time and again as one of the best in the country in the Diners Club International Wine List
Awards.
For the forthcoming Food and Wine
Weekends Chef Smith will team up with some of South Africa’s most revered
wineries to present the perfect pairing of the finest local cuisine with
outstanding South African wines, all within the luxury wilderness setting that
is Bushmans Kloof. The weekends will respectively showcase top vintages from Bouchard
Finlayson, Meerlust,Cederberg and Steenberg, and will also include special presentations, talks and
tastings, nature drives, rock art excursions, all meals, wine and lodge

Meerlust Estate (Friday 30 May - Sunday 1 June)
Co-hosting the first food and wine
weekend, Executive Chef Floris Smith and Eddie Turner, Marketing Manager for
Meerlust Estate, will indulge the distinguished palate with a food and wine
feast. Long recognised for producing world-class wines, Meerlust has been the
pride of the Myburgh family since 1756. Today, the traditional dedication to
the art of winemaking continues on the estate 15km south of Stellenbosch, with
the blue crescent of False Bay a mere five kilometers away, where wine with
exceptional complexity and character is produced.
Bouchard Finlayson (Friday 27 – Sunday 29 June)
Guests can expect to experience the very best in food and wine pairing at the Bouchard Finlayson weekend, thanks to the joint gastronomic forces of Executive Chef Floris Smith and renowned winemaker Peter Finlayson. Located in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley, Bouchard Finlayson is framed by mountains and within sight of the ocean, with frost-free, beneficial weather and the most perfect clay shale vineyard soils to produce Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc wines of outstanding quality. ‘Pinot Pioneer’ Peter Finlayson continues to excel in working with South Africa’s elusive grape, having recently won Gold for his icon Tête de Cuvée Galpin Peak Pinot Noir at the 2013 Decanter World Wine Awards in London.

Cederberg Private Cellar (Friday 25 - Sunday 27 July)
This top food and wine event will
combine gastronomic pleasures by Executive Chef Floris Smith with a selection
of Cederberg’s finest vintages. Cederberg Private Cellar is officially known as
South Africa’s highest winery, with winemaker David Niewoudt sculpting dramatic
red and white wines at an altitude of more than 1000m above sea level. A cool
continental climate, diverse soil types, unpolluted air and crystal clear
waters all help to produce wines of excellent quality.
Steenberg Vineyards (Friday 22 – Sunday 24 August)
Executive Chef Floris Smith will
team up with Steenberg Vineyards’ winemaker JD Pretorius to present a truly memorable food and wine weekend.
Steenberg holds the distinction of being the oldest farm in the picturesque
Constantia Valley, one of South Africa’s premier wine growing regions. With its
cool, sea-facing slopes, majestic granite ridges and state-of-the-art modern
winery, the vineyard has developed a worldwide reputation for producing
exceptional Cape wines.
