Hartenberg Estate’s The Eleanor Chardonnay inspires the palate with new vintage

Born from Hartenberg Estate’s red clay 'Tukulu' loam soil, The Eleanor Chardonnay 2008, available in limited volumes only, is the latest vintage from this highly esteemed estate.
Named after matriarch Eleanor Finlayson, whose family owned Hartenberg Estate for 29 years until 1977 and who stayed on the estate long afterwards, The Eleanor reflects her strong and resolute character tempered with sophistication and poise.
“Not only is this wine inspired by Eleanor, but it is truly an expression of the soil in which the vines have grown and tender care that has gone into cultivating the grapes. Whilst it treats your palate to a splash of creamy citrus, nutty, mineral and elderflower flavours it also shows a refreshing acidity. Overall it is very elegant with a persistent finish.” says winemaker Carl Schultz.
Experience shows that this wine needs at least two to three years in bottle to start exhibiting its full expression and potential which becomes ever more complex with time, making now the ideal time to enjoy this wine. Carl enjoys drinking this wine with seafood such as steamed West Coast crayfish with lemon butter or scallops and lip smacking slow roasted pork belly.
The Eleanor 2008 sells at the cellar door for R190 a bottle and is available at selected boutique wine stores and fine dining restaurants.
