Sarafin Chardonnay 2009 92 Points

www.doluca.com

Clear, day bright, pale straw with green reflections.

Clean, medium intensity, green lime, yellow citrus fruit, tangerine, stone fruits such as white peaches and apricots, lots of minerality, subtle waxy, honeyed / honeysuckle note,  frangipani, wooded (12 months) but very well integrated lending toast, caramelised corn syrup, hints of smoke, complex and layered.

Dry with medium plus acidity, full bodied and high alcohol (14.1%), juicy citrus fruit follows through, fresh, linear, kind of laser purity, crunchy minerals, fine leesy texture with a complex broad mid palate, persistent, long complexity and long finish.

Burgundian in structure, with perhaps a little more showy ripe fruits on the aromatics, similar to New World ripeness, but it was the minerals and the acid that was striking, akind to a cross between a Chassagne Montrachet and Meursault! Damn fine indeed.

Now until 2020+

Sarafin is produced by Doluca winery and is based in Saros, South West of Istanbul, Turkey
