Klein Constantia Estate 2 bottlings of Sauvignon Blanc

A recent, partial vertical comparative tastings of Klein Constantia Estate 2 bottlings of Sauvignon Blanc presented by Managing Director Hans Astrom at Sandton Sun Hotel to the Johannesburg media, reveals the distinct profile of the Estate Sauvignon Blanc and the Perdeblokke Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc.

It worth noting the change in closure for the Perdeblokke Sauvignon Blanc who is now back under natural cork, a decision by the new winemaking team, management and owners that needs to be applauded, as it is a wine style, that from my own floor experience shows better under natural cork, than screw cap, point in fact the worst Perdeblokke that I have ever bought, listed and served, was the 2007 vintage, it NEVER opened and never shows Sauvignon character or the single vineyard Perdeblokke site it was meant to express and that after opening more than 100 bottles.

I can confirmed the wine was suffocating of reductions and cabbagey character, that not even decanting prior to service helped!!

The findings are as follows with individual tastings note to follow:
