Stellenrust Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 85+ Points

Ruby red with slight garnet hue towards the rim.

Clean, moderate plus intensity, has Cabernet Sauvignon austerity, yet very ripe at the same time, blackcurrant, cassis and blackberry jam, alcohol noticeable, very good purity of fruit, not green, subtle oaking.

Dry with dash residual sugar, broad and full, fairly extracted in style, yet savory and fresh with moderate plus acidity, crunchy ripe tannins, moderate in texture, juicy, drinking well now with some aeration, serious mouthful, warming finish due to high alcohol of 14% abv, oak is integrated, well made, promising and best of all, very well priced for a Stellenbosch Cabernet, will be hard to beat the value offerings here. More than an everyday tipple, there is character!
