Two Oceans Western Cape Sauvignon Blanc 2011 85 Points

Two Oceans might carry the stigma of being a cheap, cheerful, plonky wine in the majority of local consumer mind, many times opting for a much more expensive Sauvignon Blanc either on a wine lists or a retail environment, which is wrong and unfair as not only it is one of the best priced Sauvignon Blanc out there, but it way overdelivers on it's price point, in fact I would confidently go as far as saying, after tasting the last 6 vintages that the majority of Sauvignon Blanc retailing for +/- R 70 are nowhere close to the quality inside Two Oceans, my simple advise to local wine consumer, once and for all forget about labels "prestige", in a market crowded with inconsistencies and get a good bottle /glass of Sauvignon at one third the price! and stretch your hard earn Rand!

Bright pale straw.
Clean, moderate plus intensity, ripe tropical fruit, green lime, gooseberry, white pepper spices, grassy, very good varietal varietal definition, stony/pebbly mineral.

Dry with dash of residual sugar, broad and full texture with moderate acidity, near perfect alcohol of 12.5% abv, table friendly, round, good lenght.

Always impressive in flush of youth +/- 9 months after vintage, yet can hold well for up to 2 years.
