Stellenrust Stellenbosch Merlot 2011 83 Points
Ruby red with slight garnet reflections towards the rim.
Clean, good varietal character, moderate plus intensity, ripe plums, mulberries and red bellpepper note, spicy, earthy note with, subtle oaking, alcohol noticeable though.
Dry with dash residual sugar, bright red fruits, moderate plus acidity, fresh, crunchy style, fairly juicy, moderate dry tannins, savory,good extracts, with high alcohol of 14% abv lending a full bodied profile, now until 2017+
