Martin Meinert Devon Valley Merlot 2007 85 Points

Clear, bright, cherry red with mahogany rim, medium plus concentration, medium viscosity, no evidence of gas or sediment.

Clean, medium plus intensity, ripe plums, cassis with minty / eucaplyptus note*, earthy fragrant oak and tobacco note

Dry, medium acidity, medium tannin, medium alcohol, new flavours of savoury cherries, olives, fine richness, fresh and bright, medium complexity and medium lenght, now until 2017.

This is an elegant Old World feel Merlot, one of the Cape most consistent.
*Minty / Eucaplyptus note, is not a terroir aspect, but it is well documented via extensive research, that it is the results of water stress.

If served under South African climatic condition, poured at 13 degrees celsius will paired perfectly with a confir of pork terrine, bacon, green peppercorn and mint onion marmelade
