Kavaklidere Pendore Vineyards Aegean Syrah 2009 88 Points

www.kavaklidere.com

Clear, bright, cherry red with slight garnet rim, high concentration and high viscosity.

Clean, high intensity, very ripe plums, crushed mulberries, raisin, prunes and prune liqueur, extrovert ambitious style, preserved cherries, kirsch, spicy, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, lavender blossom and dried rosemary. Generously oaked, possibly a high percentage of new oak, lending cedary, sweet vanilla and mocha / dark chocolate note.

It is so intriguing it reminds one of some highly extracted Chateauneuf du Pape style.

Dry, very concentrated profile lending a sweet profile, juicy dark plums, very ripe texture translating in a medium minus acidity, medium plus tannin, round and creamy with spicy texture, very high alcohol though (14.5%), slight soapiness, spicy and extracted, good to show off style, ego driven wine, but not too sure it will work well with food or perhaps a serious rich game stew in the middle of winter!?

Bottle bought in Istanbul, 20 Euros! retail
