Simonsig, the
landmark family owned wine estate on the outskirts Stellenbosch, has just
released the 2013 vintage of their refreshing, summer quaffer, Simonsig
Chenin Blanc.
With a new bright, yellow screw cap that reflects the wine’s playful,
fruity nature, Simonsig Chenin Blanc 2013 is an essential summer fridge staple
for many a wine lover. It is the ideal palate friendly wine when entertaining
friends or to enjoy over an al fresco lunch. With a Chenin blanc track record
dating back to 1968 as Simonsig Estate’s very first wine, you can be sure that
this latest vintage is another winner.
“Our idyllic terroir, northwest of Stellenbosch in the greater
Simonsberg area is ideally suited for richly flavoured Chenin blanc, imparting
an intense aromatic fruitiness coupled with delicious intensity and complexity
to this abundantly textured wine,” says Simonsig cellarmaster Johan Malan.
Revealing youthful, fresh tropical notes leading into an explosion of apricot,
ripe pears and kiwi fruit, the unwooded Simonsig Chenin Blanc 2013 is a must on
hot summer days. Its cutting edge acidity captures the palate and leaves a
lingering mouthfeel filled with tropical fruit flavours, making it the ideal
partner to fresh seafood as well as seafood breyani, chicken breast with
mango salad or even spicy Mexican tacos.
Simonsig Chenin Blanc 2013 is crafted in an easy, early drinking style
and will reach its peak within two years of the vintage date. The wine retails
from R40 per bottle and is available directly from the cellar or at leading
wine outlets nationwide.
