Constantia Glen Three
Constantia Glen has
stood up to critical acclaim with excellent ratings for both red and white
Bordeaux-style wines in a review published in the October edition of RobertParker’s esteemed Wine Advocate in the USA.
In his review of South
African wines, Wine Advocate’s Neal Martin awarded 92/100 points to the
Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blend, Constantia Glen TWO 2012, and 90 points to the
Constantia Glen THREE 2010, a classic blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and
Cabernet Sauvignon.
Constantia Glen Two
“This is just a
top-class Sauvignon blend,” is how Martin describes the barrel fermented
Constantia Glen TWO 2012 with its “vivacious, almost shimmering bouquet with
fresh lime, white peach and minerals”. Pronouncing the palate as “supremely
well-balanced with the two varieties working in harmony” he maintains that the
focused finish “will leave you wanting another sip.” This is a cool climate
wine with excellent longevity and Martin believes it will continue to drink
well until 2017.
Describing the
Constantia Glen THREE 2010 as “almost exotic” with “a rich, extravagant bouquet
that has immense volume”, and “very smooth and very polished with fine
tannins,” he considers this a seductive, well-crafted wine. This cool climate
red also has great ageing potential and Martin recommends drinking it from now
until 2019.
