Iona Pinot Noir Limited Release 2011 92+ Points

An absolut cracker, intellectual offering, one of the most exciting Elgin Pinot Noir to be release of late, the color might be slightly on the “darker” side (could it be a high percentage of clone 777?) when compared side by side with other Pinot from the district, though still within acceptable hue, nevertheless that’s about it, a super smart wine with cashmere texture, plush tannin, spicy oak, yet completely integrated, layers of Pinot complexity, near perfect ripeness, since this is their first pinot (and Iona second vintage) I’ve tasted from Iona, this is a conservative score, it might go higher, once I will look in their 2012 and 2013 in the near future, in the meantime, go and stock up on it, whilst the price is still very friendly, quality hard to get at that price point.
