2005 Hess Collection Mount Veeder Napa Valley 19 Block Cuvee 93+ Points




Medium clear, garnet with brown rim, intense, blackcurrant, cassis, dark plums, earthy, volcanic/basalt  mineral, spicy, hints of lavender flower, and peppery with showy French oak, lending graphite, cedar wood, tobacco and mature cigar, new leather complexity, multilayered and complex.

Dry, rich and powerful, juicy, polish ripe tannins, perfect extraction, succulent red fruit compote, full bodied with very high alcohol (14.5%!), integrated, graphite note follows through, super showy type, yet have enough freshness  and cut to be paired with a medium rare  1.2 kg Bistecca alla Florentina and green pepper sauce!

This wine is so complex and concentrated that it will last for at least another 10 years in bottle, now until 2023+

19 vineyards blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot from the Veeder Summit Vineyard, 2000 feet above sea level, 385 barrels produce.
