Arendsig Wild Yeast Robertson Chardonnay 2011 90 Points

Winemaker Lourens van der Westhuizen, craft singular wines predominantly from single vineyards blocki, in Robertson district, as in the case of this very well made chardonnay showing a
Clear, day bright pale straw with slight yellow reflections.
Clean, medium plus intensity, citrus and green pineapples fruit glace, pomelo, frangipani floral note, nutty, honey, mineral and layered, oak is supportive, lending subtle spicy vanilla note, pure and complex.
Dry with dash of residual sugar, lending round and creamy character, grapefruit freshness and vibrant with high acidity lending a linear profile, smoky complexity, the high alcohol of 14% abv is noticeable and not fully integrated, hence forbid higher rating which could have potentially be a solid 92+ Points, nevertheless it is a very well made wine with very good precision, mineral, long and persistent.
A Chardonnay to follow, only 12000 bottles produced.
If served now, benefit from decanting/aerating and preferably around 12 degrees Celsius serving temperature!
