Vondeling Babiana Voor-Paardeberg 2009 89+ Points

From the Voor-Paardeberg ward (Paarl district) adjoining Malmesbury and Riebeekberg ward (Swartland district), this ingenious blend of Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay and Grenache Blanc shows pale straw with green reflections.
Clean, slightly oxidative in style, lemon, orange, just ripe peach, mineral, granite core, nutty, excellent purity of fruit, seamless oaking, layered complexity.
Dry with dash of residual sugar, full texture, yet fresh and vibrant, creamy, leesy complexity, moderate plus alcohol? But possibly closer to 14%abv, long and persistent.
If you like Swartland “Iconic” white blends such as Sadie Family Palladius or Sequillo, Adi Badenhorst white, Mullineux White, Lammershoek Roulette Blanc or Scali Blanc, then you will like this wine, best of all 6 mentioned the Vondeling Babiana is the best priced of all at less than R 100 inclusive trade price, it’s a hell of a bargain for that quality.
Try it with a 24 hours slow roasted fresh ginger infused pork belly, garlic and Asian 5 spices and Lee Kum Kee Double Deluxe soya sauce
Now until 2018
