Seven Spring Vineyards Overberg Syrah 2010 87+ Points

Ruby red with purple reflections, there is significant stain in the “tears”, almost electric purple.
Clean, powerful, high intensity of primary red fruit, such as ripe to overripe (verging on porty/raisin character), black plums, blackberries, blackcurrants, slight jaminess/cooked fruit, with kirsch and preserved cherry note, earthy, spicy cinnamon, eucalyptus, mint, black olives with hints of Nori sheet, slight charry, tar character, oaky.
Dry with slight residual sugar, medium plus acidity, medium tannin, high alcohol (13.77% abv), dark red fruit flavors follows through, fresh, savory, black olives note, spicy cinnamon, concentrated and fat textured, kind of a modern Barossa in style, leathery, good complexity and length.
An Overberg syrah to follow, need +/- 5 years to come together, revisit in winter 2015, may be kept up to 2019+
