San Pedro Castillo de Molina Central Valley Pinot Noir 2009 85 Points

Clear, day bright, cherry garnet red with.
Highly reductive, showing the scars of screwcap as a closure, after 3 days, though barely oxidized start showing some red fruits, spicy plums and cherries,  stony fruit pips, earthy mineral core, alcohol is noticeable and very high (14% abv) spicy oak, ferrous soil.
Dry with medium plus acidity, firm ripe tannins, fresh and savory with delicate mid palate, tad oaky, need time to integrate, hints of graphite, high alcohol follows though, fortunately the acidity acting like a spinal cord, keep the wine interesting, long spicy finish.
Need vigorous aerating/ prior decanting if to fully enjoy this bottle.
It’s a Pinot Noir with great structure and could have been showing much better, should it have been sealed with natural cork!
