VERITAS WINNERS: TASTE FIRST AND THEN BUY Book now for a Veritas tasting near you
The results of the annual Veritas Awards have become a trustworthy barometer of quality for wine and brandy lovers and especially the double gold and gold medal stickers that adorn the winning wine bottles regularly influence buying behaviour.
The good news is that enthusiasts are able to taste the top Veritas wines of 2012 at various countrywide public tastings, sponsored by Deloitte, before buying their utmost favourite wines and brandies.
These sessions take place in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Knysna during the months of October and November.
Deloitte’s association with the Veritas Awards dates back to 2005 when the financial services company decided to align its principals of quality service with those of the country’s premier wine and brandy competition. “At Deloitte we are judged by the quality of our work and consistently achieve very high standards of excellence in our wide service offering, it was therefore a natural fit for us to be involved with Veritas that judges the entered wines and brandies according to the highest standards of quality,” said Deloitte Partner and wine enthusiast Michael van Wyk.
The Cape Town tasting will take place on Tuesday 16 October in the Strelitzia Conservatory and Restaurant, CTICC Ground floor, from 17:00 to 20:00.
Tickets are available at R140 per person. Wine and brandy lovers in the Johannesburg area will be treated to the 2012 greats at the Bill Gallagher Room of the Sandton Convention Centre on 24 October from 17:00 to 20:00 – tickets cost R150.
The Durban tasting takes place on 7 November from 17:00 to 20:00 at the Function Room, Deloittes Head Office in Umhlanga, at R110 a ticket. Attendees to these sessions will also be treated to light snacks and a tasting of the 2012 Qualité Cheeses.
Port Elizabethans will have their turn on Tuesday 13 November from 18:00 to 19:30 during a sit-down tasting session at the Squires Legendary Grill in the Boardwalk Centre in Beach Road – light snacks included.
Tickets cost R110 per person. Knysna’s Kilzers Kitchen offers enthusiasts two opportunities to taste the Veritas victors: a food and wine pairing dinner combined with a tasting on 14 November from 19:00 onwards at R250 per person, as well as a tasting with light snacks on 15 November from 18:00 to 20:00 at R95.
Computicket ticket sales for the tastings in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban open on 1 October, but bookings for the Port Elizabeth and Knysna events should be made with the various organisers.
